Ability to save several tracks/routes to one map but toggle the visibility of each track. This would mean I could have lots of local routes on the same map but by only showing the one (or however many) I wanted, the map display would be a lot less cluttered.
Enable tab field toggles in the browser window to make this easier to use.
I agree with Simon- the ability to save multiple routes on a map and the ability to toggle between them would be great.
Have the map image center in the frame instead of keeping it to the far left. The justification tends to get in the way of the true edge of the map.
Ability to set altitudes using topographical maps. Similar to the scales currently used but multiple per map. This could be used in Mapper calculations of true distances of routes going up and down mountains, etc. (There isn't anything 'flat' in Colorado). Right now I could go on a 10 mile hike and it would look like a 3 miler without the altitude adjustments.
Add a 'retrace route' feature to go back to a certain point already defined in the route. This would save a lot of hassle for those doing out and back trails, etc that don't go straight back to the place they started. Example: If I go down the trail 20 miles and want to come back 10 then detour around, adding the trail back through 10 miles is a pain.
Ability to add a 'home point' to a map. This point wouldn't be deleted with routes on the map- just a place keeper or a 'you start here' sign.
I'd find the ability to join sections of route together very useful. For example, there are only 4 routes to/from my house, so most of my potential routes have about 50% on common, and it's a pain having to re-trace the same section every time. This would fit quite well with being able to import GPS data (which might well only cover part of the route!)
to select a group of points within a rectangle & delete them.
to add points in the middle of a route - not sure how this would work... Perhaps select 2 points & have one added between them that you could then move to the right place.
to add mile (Km) markers, maybe a circle/dot with the mile number above it.
to mark the start and end of a section of twisty road (with no turn offs), and have mapper set up the points to follow the road.
to have it do the runs for me 5 times a week.
This is probably not in your plans, but I'd love to see a Mac version. I have to run your app on this crappy laptop at work - it's the only thing I even use a PC for.

Firstly, thanks for your feedback on this topic. I'll start by saying what will definitely in the next version of Mapper: - elevation/altitude - mile/km markers - toggling display of multiple routes - joining subroutes together - re-using parts of routes - this could also be used to retrace part of a route - adding points in the middle of a route
We'll have a look at the other points you've raised - some we may be able to include in version 2. Others may have to wait for a later version, so we don't have to delay v2 too long.
My needs would be better met if there were an easy and efficient way to write printable notes or text while using Mapper.
In using more than one "route" on a map, it would be helpful if optionally, the routes of previous measurements and the measurements themsevles were self- evident and printable.
Thanks for the input and let me know when the new stuff is available,

Firstly, its really is nice to hear from you guys. Its great to be able to get some thoughts from you.
With regards to the Mac version Chris really wanted to do this a while ago. The thought was there- honest! Its going to be a fair amount of work for us to get into the Mac development tools though. We would need some one fairly experienced to help out on the Mac front- any one? Certainly not against the notion of a Mac version though.
Doug - do you mean you would like a global notepad for each mapper file that could be printed out with route maps? We have improved the note entering for points in the new version so you can see/edit them directly in a dialog bar. I'll attach a snapshot of the bar.
No doubt Dave will be sad to learn that it won't do any of the 5 runs per week he hoped the new version of Mapper would do for him! :D

I see two problems. It is very cumbersome in determining mileage that requires going between different maps due to the total distance of the route. And second, maybe I do not use it enough to be able to use Mapper in my sleetp but I need better help menu or to have a Wizzard that makes in simpler to use.

Are you sure that you cannot do several routes on one map? It has been a while but I thought that I did it.
I like the ability to measure routes directly on a web page, but like the others I think you definately need more features like Trailgauge has e.g. altitude for definate, time predictions (that take altitude into account), import and export to GPS, etc.

I would add active undo/redo buttons. The buttons are on the toolbar, but are not activated (at least in the trial version that I am using).
I would 2nd the suggestion to being able to write simple text on the maps (not just within the individual points). It would be nice to draw simple shapes such as arrows also.
BTW, nice program. I'm likely to buy it. Any idea when v.2 might become available?
